Singapore stocks close 0.55 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 15.61 points, or 0.55 percent, to close at 2,859.33.

A total of 1.69 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.22 billion Singapore dollars (856 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 241 to 171, while 684 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 4.03 points, or 0.14 percent, to close at 2,843.72 on Thursday. Enditem
