The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Friday.
--Zambian President Edgar Lungu has reiterated that his foreign trips were good for the country and that people will soon start seeing more benefits from his trips.
In an apparent reference to critics who have blasted him over his continued travel in spite of austerity measures introduced by his government, Lungu said people will soon start seeing benefits from his foreign trips, adding that people were not aware of the direct link between foreign engagements and the investments seen in Zambia in various sectors.
Lungu has lined up five trips to five African countries between this month and next month. (Times of Zambia)
--Zambia's Vice-President has called for increased couple counseling to curtail an increase in cases of wives killing their husbands as the country celebrates 16 days of Activism against gender-based violence.
Inonge Wina said the government is concerned with recent incidents where a number of women have killed their husbands and called for a change of mindset on violating each other's rights.
Five women in Lusaka, the country's capital, have so far been arrested in recent weeks for killing their husbands. (Zambia Daily Mail)
--The Zambian government said has called for the commercialization of goat and sheep rearing in order to meet the demand by Saudi Arabia for one million goats per year.
Minister of Livestock and Fisheries Michael Katambo said farmers should grab the opportunity presented by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by rearing goats and sheep on a commercial basis.
He said the demand for goats in the country was one million per year while the current population of goats was estimated at 4.3 million and with one 131,000 sheep.
