Ghana slips eight places on November FIFA rankings

Xinhua, November 25, 2016 Adjust font size:

Ghana has dropped eight places from October's 45th position to rank 53rd in the latest FIFA world rankings released on Thursday.

The Black Stars also slipped four places to the 9th position on the continental pecking order after losing 17 points from last month's 628 to accrue 611 points in November.

Ghana's fall on the FIFA ranking table could be attributed to the Black Stars' defeat to Egypt in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier earlier this month.

Ghana lost 2-0 to the Pharaohs of Egypt at the Borg El-Arab Stadium in Alexandria to lose grounds in Group E of the African qualifiers.

Argentina remains at the peak of the November rankings followed by Brazil and Germany.

Ghana has been drawn to face Egypt, Mali and Uganda in Group D of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Gabon. Endit
