Zambia's inflation down to single digit in Nov.

Zambia's year-on-year inflation rate for November was 8.8 percent, down from 12.5 percent recorded in October, its statistics agency said on Thursday.

John Kalumbi, the director of the Central Statistical Office (CSO), attributed the slowdown in the year-on-year inflation rate to mainly base effect.

"It is mainly attributed to base effect although movement of prices also had an effect. This is because what happened in November last year has a bearing in this annual inflation in November," he told reporters during a monthly briefing.

The monthly inflation rate increased to 1.5 percent in November from 0.5 percent in October mainly as a result of an increase in fuel pump prices, he added. Endit
