Regional IT experts discuss cyber security, smart society construction in Vietnam

Regional information technology (IT) experts from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Japan gathered here Thursday to discuss cyber security and building of smart society.

The discussion was held at the ASEAN Information and Communication Technology (ICT) forum in Vietnam's capital Hanoi on Thursday, drawing participation of over 100 regional experts, reported the state-run news agency VNA.

At the forum, research groups from countries as Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia and Japan, among others, have presented their papers whose topics focus on smart community, application of IT on healthcare treatment and limitation of natural disasters, green IT, energy saving, natural language processing, building smart city with IT application to deal with population growth-triggered problems like traffic, construction, entertainment among others.

According to the Ministry of Information and Communications, in order to develop IT sector and build smart cities, the Vietnamese government targeted the country's minimum annual growth of 15 percent in software, digital content and IT services. Endit
