Myanmar's garment export up in first 8 months of fiscal year 2016-17

The total garment export value of Myanmar reached more than 1 billion U.S. dollars in the first eight months of this fiscal year 2016-2017 as of Nov. 11, up by 690 million U.S. dollars from the same period of the previous fiscal year, official media reported Thursday.

The exported garment were manufactured under the cut-make-pack system which is mostly operated in the country's garment industry.

There are more than 400 such factories, creating jobs for about 400,000 workers, according to the Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association.

The country exports garment mostly to China, European countries, South Korea, Japan and the United States. Endit
