The National Assembly committee on Wednesday dismissed the impeachment motion against French President Francois Hollande over his remarks on secret information published in a book entitled "A President Should Not Say That."
The lower house of parliament's committee voted 13 to eight against the impeachment call, said Claude Bartolone, the president of the National Assembly.
On Nov. 10, Pierre Lellouche, a conservative lawmaker, launched the impeachment motion against the Socialist leader after Hollande disclosed state secrets to journalists in a tell-all book that included details such as plans to air strike Syria in 2013.
A total of 79 of 577 lawmakers supported the impeachment request.
Hollande could face a separate judicial investigation by the Paris prosecutor's office on whether he let classified documents in reach two journalists Gerard Davet and Fabrice Lhomme from Le Monde newspaper. Endit
