Hamas hails Egyptian court overturning life sentence against Morsi

Xinhua, November 22, 2016 Adjust font size:

Hamas movement hailed on Tuesday an Egyptian court ruling that decided jailed former Islamic President Mohamed Morsi is not guilty in the case of communicating with the movement.

Sami Abu Zuhri, Hamas spokesman, said in an emailed press statement that the Egyptian court ruling "certifies that Egypt still concerned about the Palestinian cause and stands to the side of all Palestinian powers and parties."

The Egyptian Court of Cassation ruled earlier in the day former President Mohamed Morsi and 21 others will be retried.

According to Egypt's Middle East News Agency, Morsi and the 21 leaders, members of the Muslim Brotherhood, were earlier accused of collaborating with Hamas. Endit
