Cambodia ratifies Paris climate accord

Xinhua, November 22, 2016 Adjust font size:

The National Assembly of Cambodia ratified the Paris Agreement on Climate Change on Tuesday with 105 out of 106 lawmakers in attendance voted in favour of the pact.

Environment Minister Say Samal said Cambodia joined with world leaders to sign the agreement on April 22, 2016 in New York.

"As of early November this year, 91 countries out of 197 countries had ratified the Paris Agreement on Climate Change," he told the parliament.

He said the agreement urges countries to combat climate change, accelerate and intensify the actions and investments needed for a sustainable low-carbon future, and adapt to the increasing impacts of climate change. Endit
