Xinhua, November 22, 2016 Adjust font size:

Macedonia on Monday launched a code of judicial ethics for judges aimed at enhancing impartiality and transparency during courts rulings and procedures, local media reported.

The project supports an independent, accountable and efficient judiciary, representatives of the Academy for Judges and Public Prosecutors said in a press conference.

Impartiality is of essential significance for judges during the procedure and in the passing of rulings, cites the code of judicial ethics for judges.

Many judges and public prosecutors from all appellate regions and representatives of the Macedonian Bar Association were present at the launch of the code, and highly praised it as a necessary instrument.

Judges from supreme courts in Macedonia, Croatia and Slovenia shared their experiences regarding ethical aspects in their respective contexts.

Head of the academy Aneta Arnaudovska said the code was adopted in 2014 in compliance with GRECO (group of states against corruption) recommendations over an advisory body for judges in case of ethical dilemmas. Enditem
