Tokyo stocks open higher as yen retreats to near 6-month low vs. USD

Tokyo stocks rose from the morning bell Monday with the market in a buoyant mood with a healthy appetite to chase assets higher as the yen retreated to a near six-month low versus the U.S. dollar giving exporter issues an early lift.

As the markets opened here, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 51.18 points, or 0.28 percent, from Friday to 18,018.59.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 5.21 points, or 0.36 percent, to 1,433.67.

Insurance, mining and export-related automotive stocks where among issues that made notable gains in early trade. Enditem
