A Russian navy's research vessel docked at Iran's southern port city of Bandar Abbas on Friday, Tasnim news agency reported.

The visit of Yantar, a Russian vessel used for deep-sea research and rescue operations, is part of a joint effort by Iran and Russia to boost naval cooperation and enhance maritime security across the region, Iran's navy said.

The crew aboard Yantar, which is equipped with advanced gear for acoustic, biological, physical and geophysical surveys, will take a multi-purpose tour of Bandar Abbas, it added. Endit
