The Nigeria Table Tennis Federation has named eight players to represent the country at the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) world junior championships coming up later this month in Cape Town, South Africa.

In a statement made available to Xinhua on Tuesday, president of the local tennis federation, Wahid Oshodi, said the junior players would compete for honors in the singles, doubles and team events of the championships scheduled to hold between Nov. 30 and Dec.7.

The local federation said it would use the tournament as a grooming platform for the junior players into the senior national team.

More than 24 countries are expected to present 96 male and 96 female representatives for the competition.

Nigeria, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt and host South Africa would represent the African continent at the eight-day championships. Endit
