Iran opposes disintegration of borders by foreign elements

Iran will confront any attempt to change borders of regional countries, a senior adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader was quoted as saying by Press TV on Tuesday.
"Iran will, in words and action, oppose the disintegration of regional countries by foreign elements," Ali Akbar Velayati made the remarks during a meeting with visiting former French defense minister, Herve Morin, in the capital Tehran on Tuesday.
"We will confront such attempts, which are detrimental to the region," stressed Velayati.
Iran's military advisory mission in Iraq, for instance, aims to contribute to regional stability in general and preserve the Arab country's sovereignty and territorial integrity in particular, he said.
"Senior Iraqi authorities state that without Iran's help, Daesh would have very likely gained control over Baghdad," he added.
Velayati urged for continuous talks with French officials, saying that "the exchange of viewpoints about regional issues is a requirement in the relations between the two countries."
As for Morin, who served as the French defense chief under former president Nicolas Sarkozy from 2007 to 2010 and currently is a parliamentary member, he said that "It is impossible to fight terrorism without Iran's participation."
He described the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers as a "guarantee to stability and security in the region and the world," as the deal ended disputes over Iran's sensitive nuclear program. Endit
