State Council appoints, removes officials

The State Council, China's cabinet, has announced the appointment and removal of several officials, according to a circular issued Tuesday.

Li Xiaohong was removed from the post of president of Wuhan University and named vice minister of education.

Huang Wei will replace Hou Jianguo as vice minister of science and technology.

Xiong Xuanguo was appointed vice minister of justice.

Li Guo was named deputy head of the General Administration of Customs, and Lu Peijun and Lyu Bin will no longer hold this post.

Fu Jianhua was appointed deputy head of the State Administration of Work Safety.

The State Council decided that Chen Shun will no longer hold the post of assistant minister of education and Dou Yupei will be removed from the post of vice minister of civil affairs.

Li Ganjie will no longer hold the posts of vice minister of environmental protection and the head of National Nuclear Safety Administration.

Tong Daochi will no longer serve as the assistant minister of commerce. Endit
