Beijing loses to Shanxi with Marbury sidelined

Xinhua, November 13, 2016 Adjust font size:

Point guard Jamaal Franklin proved his value on Sunday as Shanxi beat the visiting Beijing 125-114 in the sixth round of the 2016-2017 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league.

Franklin finished with a game-high 61 points while four of his teammates scored double digits.

Beijing, that missed the veteran Stephon Marbury who sat at the bench due to his leg injury, had a two-point lead into the fourth quarter.

From 104-all, Franklin scored six straight points including four free throws to help Shanxi establish a comfortable gap to 110-104.

Marbury's fellow American teammate Randolph Morris had a team-high 29 points and 12 rebounds, which proved to be not good enough.

Elsewhere on Sunday, both Xinjiang and Shanghai claimed their sixth straight wins by beating their respective rivals Jiangsu 115-106 and Shenzhen 112-108, while defending champion Sichuan beat Guangzhou 103-97.
