China's Gao Tingyu wins silver in ISU World Cup

Gao Tingyu of China took the silver medal of the men's 500m race at the International Skating Union (ISU) Speed Skating World Cup here on Sunday.
Gao timed in 34.99 seconds in the men's 500m, which was won by Russian Pavei Kulizhnikov in 34.98.
The women's 500m was won by Nao Kodaira of Japan in 38.04, where China's Yu Jing and Zhang Hong placed 9th and 12th in 38.47 and 38.66 respectively.
Heather Bergsma of the United States took the women's 1,500m title, and Dutch Kjeld Nuis triumphed in the men's 1,500m race.
Lee Seung-Hoon of South Korea and Ivanie Blondin of Canada took the men's and women's mass start events respectively.
The World Cup Series kicked off here on Friday, with the participation of 240 skaters from 28 countries and regions.
After Harbin, the six-leg World Cup series will travel to Nagano of Japan, Astana of Kazakhstan and Heerenveen of the Netherlands in 2016.
In January, Berlin of Germany will host the fifth leg and the World Cup final will be held in Chelyabinsk of Russia in March, 2017. Endit
