TIRANA -- A strong explosion took place Thursday night in the oil processing plant of Ballsh, Fier, central Albania, leaving one dead while five other employees were injured and sent to hospital, local media reported Friday.

HERAT, Afghanistan -- Two key commanders of the Taliban group were among 52 militants killed in Shindand district of the western Herat province, senior army commander in the western region Raz Mohammad Oryakhil said Friday.

MAZAR-E-SHARIF, Afghanistan -- Up to four people, all Afghans, were killed and 33 others injured in a deadly attack on German Consulate in Mazar-e-Sharif on Thursday night, police here said Friday.
Mazar-e-Sharif is the capital of the northern Balkh province, 305 km north of Kabul. "It was a car bomb detonated next to the building of German consulate," provincial police chief Sayed Kamal Sadat told a press conference. MOSCOW -- Russia's Defense Ministry said Friday that it has discovered proof of terrorists using chemical weapons against civilians and the Syrian military in the southwestern outskirts of the Syrian city Aleppo.
