Fiji to continue peacekeeping in Lebanon

Xinhua, November 11, 2016 Adjust font size:

Fiji has made a commitment to continuing with peacekeeping duties in Lebanon, government-owned Fiji Broadcasting Corporation (FBC) confirmed Friday, citing Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.

Bainimarama, on his visit to the Middle East, said the safety of every Fijian in uniform as they carry out their duties on behalf of the United Nations will always remain the priority.

While hosting Bainimarama and the Fijian delegation, Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri thanked the Fijian delegation for visiting Lebanon and for its continuous support through peacekeeping duties, according to the FBC.

A trade delegation from Lebanon will be visiting Fiji in September next year, Hariri said.

The visit to Lebanon is part of a tour that the Fijian prime minister is making to the Middle East to discuss Fiji's contribution to UN peacekeeping operations in the region. Endit
