Event to commemorate 150th anniversary of Sun Yat-sen's birth

An event commemorating the 150th birthday of Sun Yat-sen will be held Friday morning, an official statement said Wednesday.

President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, will deliver a keynote speech at the event.

Born in 1866 in south China's Guangdong Province, Sun Yat-sen was the founder of the Kuomintang Party, and is a revered revolutionary leader who played a pivotal role in overthrowing imperial rule in China.

The event, scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m., will be broadcast live on China Central Television, China National Radio, China Radio International and several official websites. Endi
