Xinhua, November 9, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Indonesian government has set a 3-gold target for the men's short distance races in the SEA Games in Malaysia next year, a coach disclosed here on Wednesday.

Eni Nuraini, coach of the men runners, said that she expects the gold medals to be secured from the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay races.

She said Indonesia would send five runners to compete in the regional event in the neighboring country scheduled to be held from August 19 to 31, 2017.

Currently 10 athletes were conducting intensive training in West Java province near Jakarta and a half of them would be selected a month prior to the event, Nuraini added.

Among the potentially elected are I Dewa Made Mudiasa, 24, who took part in the Rio Olympics this year, Sudirman Hadi, 20, Ahmad Azian and Eko Rimbwan, she revealed.

Indonesia only took silver medals in sprint race at the Sea Games 2015 in Singapore. Endit
