African Parliamentary Union to convene in Morocco

Xinhua, November 2, 2016 Adjust font size:

Morocco will host meetings of the African Parliamentary Union (APU) on Nov. 5-9, a statement released by the Moroccan parliament said.

According to the statement, during the meetings, the executive committee of APU will examine and adopt amendments to the union's statutes, the yearly action plan and the 2017 draft budget.

On this occasion, the APU's female MPs committee will convene on the theme of "the contribution of African parliaments to fight women's and children's trafficking and labor," the statement said.

The APU is a continental inter-parliamentary organization set up in Ivory Coast city of Abidjan in February 1976.

It aims particularly to bring together the parliamentary institutions of all African states to encourage contacts among African Parliamentarians and contribute to the promotion of democracy. Endit
