The 4th China-Australia Media Forum was held in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, on Wednesday with attendance of officials from China and Australia as well as representatives from nearly 30 mainstream media outlets.
The forum, co-hosted by China's State Council Information Office and Australian News Channel, will focus on the "media's role in promoting China-Australia relations: opportunities and challenges."
Representatives at the forum exchanged views on media cooperation and ensuring the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations between the two countries.
Guo Weimin, deputy head of the State Council Information Office, said Chinese and Australian media should report on each country objectively and rationally to play a constructive role in advancing the strategic partnership between the two countries.
The forum has been held three times: in Sydney in 2006, in China's Guangzhou in 2012, and again in Sydney in 2014, to provide an important platform in forming a mutual understanding of the media's role in China-Australia relations. Endi
