The following are highlights of South African major news outlets on Wednesday:

-- Opposition parties have expressed confidence following the first day of arguments in the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria over the state capture report.

"We are guaranteed that by tomorrow this time, Thuli Madonsela's state capture report will be released," Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema told crowds outside the court on Tuesday evening. (News24)

-- The National Assembly has passed the amended version of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Bill.

The bill was passed yesterday afternoon through a vote with 198 members of Parliament voting in its favour, while 81 voted against it and one MP abstained. (City Press)

-- President Jacob Zuma's legal team will argue in the High Court in Pretoria on Wednesday on why the report on so-called State Capture should not be released.
