Iran to play soccer friendly with Papua New Guinea

Xinhua, October 31, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Iranian national soccer team will play Papua New Guinea (PNG) as a part of preparation for a match against Syria in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, the Tehran Times daily reported on Sunday.

The Iranian team will face PNG on Nov.11 in Malaysia before it faces Syria on Nov. 15, according to the Iran Football Federation.

Carlos Queiroz's team had been scheduled to meet Thailand but the match was cancelled due to death of the country's King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

The Iranian team sits at the top of Group A with 10 points in the Asian qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup. Enit
