Indian President Pranab Mukherjee will pay a visit to Nepal on Nov. 2-4 at the invitation of his Nepali counterpart Bidya Devi Bhandari, Nepal said on Saturday.

This will be the first visit by an Indian president to the Himalayan nation after a hiatus of 18 years. The then Indian President K. R. Narayanan visited Nepal in May 1998.

Nepali President Bhandari will receive Mukherjee at the Tribhuvan International Airport upon his arrival on Nov. 2, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During his visit, Mukherjee is scheduled to hold talks with Bhandari, who will host a State Banquet in honor of the Indian leader.

Mukherjee will perform worship at the Pashupatinath, the most sacred Hindu temple in Nepal, on Nov. 3.

In addition to the capital city, the Indian president is going to visit two popular cities of Janakpur and Pokhara on the last day of his visit. Endit
