Croatia would deploy soldiers to Lithuania in 2018 in order to strengthen NATO presence in the region, local media reported on Wednesday.

Croatia's stronger positioning in the European Union and NATO was one of the government's priorities in foreign policy, Croatian Defence Minister Damir Krsticevic said during attending a NATO defence ministers meeting in Brussels.

He said Croatia decided it would deploy one company of soldiers to Lithuania in 2018 as part of Germany-led multinational battalions.

He also said Croatia was considering to participate NATO's new operation -- "Sea Guardian" which aimed at strengthening security in the Mediterranean and preventing people smuggling. Enditem
