Meeting between CPC, KMT leaders significant for cross-Strait ties:spokesperson

A meeting between the leaders of the Communist Party of China and Kuomintang (KMT) Party will be significant for safeguarding the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations, a Chinese mainland spokesperson said Wednesday.

The spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office said "under the current situation", the high-level interaction between the two parties and the efforts to consolidate common political foundation will have positive impact on maintaining cross-Strait peace and stability.

Hung Hsiu-chu, leader of KMT Party in Taiwan, is scheduled to lead a delegation to visit the mainland from Oct. 30 to Nov. 3, the mainland-based office said Monday. Endi
