20 de-miners abducted in Afghanistan's Logar province

Armed men have abducted 20 de-miners in Afghanistan's eastern Logar province, spokesman for the provincial government Salim Khan Saleh said on Thursday.

"Some unidentified armed men intercepted a bus of a de-mining agency on the outskirts of provincial capital Pul-e-Alam Wednesday evening and took the bus along with 20 de-miners to an unknown location," Saleh told Xinhua.

Without giving more details, he added that a search operation was underway to ensure the safe release of the abductees.

Taliban militants who are active in parts of Logar province, haven't commented on the incident. Enditem
