Singapore stocks close 0.49 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 13.99 points, or 0.49 percent, to close at 2,844.62.

A total of 1.66 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 891.8 million Singapore dollars (643.3 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 187 to 178, while 534 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 13.56 points, or 0.48 percent, to close at 2,830.63 on Tuesday. Enditem
