Gambia's electoral commission calls for restraint ahead of Dec. 1 presidential election

The Electoral Commission in Gambia has urged people to desist from all actions that could deter peaceful presidential election set for December 1.

As political parties and candidates are touring the country campaigning for endorsement of their candidature, the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) reminds all stakeholders to desist from the use of inflammatory language or any other means that will lead to violence, IEC chairman Alieu Momarr Njie said on Monday.

On Monday the Electoral Commission has also embarked on massive sensitization program to police, media and other relevant stakeholders to ensure peaceful election . Endit
