Paris int'l auto show attracts 14 pct fewer visitors

This year's session of international Paris Motor Show lured less visitors compared to 2014 mainly due to a perceived risk of terror attacks, organizers said on Monday.
From Sept. 29 to Oct. 16, about 1.1 million people visited the biennial auto exhibition at la Porte de Versailles exhibition centre, down by 14 percent from 2014.
"The decrease in the number of its visitors compared to the 2014 edition should be put in the context of the 15 to 30 percent decrease in the attendance rate of all national events since Nov. 13, 2015," organizers said in a statement.
"The Paris Motor Show is still the most visited automobile show in the world which took place in a positive atmosphere and without mishap," they added.
Order intakes and new contacts increased by 50 percent compared to 2014 for many exhibitors as they offered "unprecedented range of services, products and global auto-mobility solutions," according to the statement.
More than 230 brands participated in the international auto show this year. Endit
