Cambodia's National Assembly President Samdech Heng Samrin said Monday that the recent visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Cambodia has built "stronger and deeper" ties between China and Cambodia.

The Cambodian top legislator made the remarks during a meeting with Bai Zhijian, visiting chairman of Overseas Affairs Committee of the 12th National People's Congress of China, according to Keo Piseth, a spokesman for Samrin.

"Samdech (honorific title for Heng Samrin) said that the recent visit of President Xi to Cambodia has made the relations and cooperation between China and Cambodia become stronger and deeper," he told reporters after the meeting.

Bai agreed that Xi's visit has significantly contributed to further deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation that the two countries established in 2010.

Xi paid a historic visit to Cambodia on Oct. 13-14, where he met with Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and held talks with Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

During the visit, Xi and Hun Sen witnessed the signing ceremony of 31 bilateral cooperation agreements, according a joint statement released after the visit. Enditem
