Young couple charged with planning terrorist attack in France: report

Xinhua, October 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

A 21-year-old man and his 17-year-old girlfriend have been charged with preparing to carry out a terror attack in France, local media reported on Saturday.

The couple, arrested earlier this week in Noisy-Le- Sec, northeast Paris, were also accused of using the encrypted Telegram social media app to contact suspected French extremist Rashid Kassim in Syria who had used the messaging service to call for more attacks in France.

Probes into two foiled attacks in September showed that the man had directed two minors to conduct "violent acts" and also guided "a female commando" to attack train stations and police in French capital earlier this month.

A total of 37 minors are under formal investigation for terrorism in France so far. Fourteen teens including three girls are in detention, according to Justice Minister Jean-Jacques Urvoas. Endit
