Eurozone house prices up 2.9 pct in Q2

House prices rose by 2.9 percent in the 19-country eurozone in the second quarter of 2016, compared with the same period last year, the European Union (EU)'s statistical office Eurostat announced Wednesday.

The figures also showed that in the wider 28-country EU bloc, house prices went up by 4.0 percent in Q2 year-on-year.

Meanwhile, compared with the first quarter this year, house prices rose by 1.4 percent in the euro area and by 1.6 percent in the EU in Q2.

Eurostat noted that among all the EU members, the highest annual increases in house prices in Q2 were recorded in Hungary and Latvia (both 10.3 percent), Austria (9.0 percent), Britain (8.8 percent) and Sweden (8.7 percent). Endit
