Fire breaks out on roof of Berlin landmark

Over 60 firefighters were called to put out a fire which broke out on the roof of the Berlin's landmark Europa Center on Tuesday.

According to the local fire department, the building with shops and restaurants had been evacuated, while visitors and employees of the building were urged to leave.

Local media Focus Online reported that an emergency call was received in the afternoon when thick smoke columns rose into the sky.

The fire brigade extinguished the fire in an hour and has now given the all clear.

According to the report, there were no injuries. The cause of the fire was not immediately known. Endit
