Xinhua, October 10, 2016 Adjust font size:

A man was found killed by hanging in a central Athens square on Saturday evening and two suspects have been arrested, Greek national news agency AMNA reported on Sunday.

The victim has yet to be identified, but according to police sources, he was a Polish national.

A 35-year-old Polish and a 52-year-old Ukrainian were arrested on the spot, a few meters away from the tree where the victim was found on Klafthmonos square opposite to the Interior Ministry and close to the Greek parliament.

Eyewitnesses who alerted the police said that the victim and the suspects, who were inebriated when detained, were involved in a heated argument and that the two men hanged him.

The suspects argued that he hanged himself and they tried to save him. Endit
