Vietnam's HCM City to relocate 20,000 houses near canals

Xinhua, October 7, 2016 Adjust font size:

Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City will relocate some 20,000 makeshift houses near its canals from now to 2020, the municipal Construction Department said Friday.

The 20,000 makeshift houses, including nearly 10,000 houses in District 8 and some 2,200 houses in District 7, are unsafe and unhygienic.

Some local firms have asked for the municipal authorities' permission to implement projects worth hundreds of millions of U.S. dollars to relocate makeshift houses near canals and cleanse polluted canals. Endit
