-- Zambian President Edgar Lungu has called for the scaling up of efforts to improve gender equality so that Zambia can attain the 50-50 target of males and females assuming decision making roles at various levels.

Lungu said when he swore in his newly appointed Minister of Gender and Child Development Victoria Kalima that while other countries have managed to achieve the threshold, Zambia was still lagging behind in that area. (Times of Zambia)

-- The European Union (EU) has procured and handed over mineral production and monitoring equipment worth 400,000 Euros to the Zambian government.

-- Zambia's ruling Patriotic Front (PF) says it will hold its national convention next year to elect new leaders.
