The following are highlights of leading Nigerian media outlets on Thursday.

-- The House of Representatives on Wednesday rejected a fresh bid for the convocation of a national conference and a referendum where a new constitution for the country would be approved by Nigerians.

The Senate and the House of Representatives are currently in the process of further amending the country's 1999 Constitution. (Punch)

-- The Minister of Finance Kemi Adeosun has accused western powers of being a stumbling block to Nigeria's plan to improve power output through the use of coal.

Adeosun said this on Wednesday in Washington during a discussion on the importance of addressing infrastructure gaps in developing countries at the World Bank, International Monetary Fund General Meetings. (Vanguard)
