Nearly 200 artists, musicians to participate in 2nd Asia-Europe music festival

The second Asia-Europe New Music Festival and the 34th Asian Composers League (ACL) Festival and Conference will be held in Vietnam on Oct. 12-18, announced Vietnam Musician's Association on Wednesday.

Do Hong Quan, chairman of the association made the announcement at a press conference held in Vietnam's capital Hanoi on Wednesday, saying that the two events will take place in the capital city and northern Vinh Phuc province.

Nearly 200 artists and musicians from 30 countries and regions including Australia, Canada, China, China's Hong Kong, China's Taiwan, Cambodia, Colombia, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Poland, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Turkey, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, the United States and Vietnam among others will take part in the events.

This year's festival themed "Music-Convergence and Pervasion" will include a series of 11 main performances of symphony, chamber, chorus, opera and ballet with more than 100 items.

There will be workshops on Asian-European new music and Dan Bau, a Vietnamese traditional one-string musical instrument, the chairman added.
