Singapore aspires to shape bunkering for world's future

Xinhua, October 5, 2016 Adjust font size:

Singapore on Wednesday introduced new initiatives on leveraging technology to improve bunker deliveries to better meet future demands.

Government ministers were at the opening ceremony of Singapore International Bunkering Conference and Exhibition, which attracts more than 1,500 participants from over 50 countries.

Organized by Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and themed "The Journey towards Cleaner Marine Fuels", the exhibition comes at an opportune time as the international regulatory landscape gravitates towards a framework in support of a sustainable global maritime transport system.

Chief Executive of MPA Andrew Tan stressed that Singapore is committed to setting the highest standards for bunkering industry as well as provide a broad range of solutions to meet the energy needs of the global shipping industry.

"MPA will continue to engage our key stakeholders to collectively raise standards, which will enable us to stay relevant in the global bunkering industry," said Tan. Endit
