Spain's public deficit stands at 3.27 pct of GDP up to July

Spain's public deficit stood at 36.443 billion euros (40.897 billion U.S. dollars), 3.27 percent of the country's gross domestic product (GDP) up to July excluding local governments, the Ministry of Finance reported on Tuesday.
The figure includes financial aid to the banks that amounted to 1.959 billion euros. Excluding this figure, the country's public deficit stood at 3.09 percent of GDP.
The deficit of the central state represented 2.66 percent of Spain's GDP up to July reaching 29.652 billion euros while the deficit of regional governments (Autonomous Communities) stood at 830 million euros in the first seven months of the year, representing 0.07 percent of GDP.
Meanwhile, the deficit of the Social Security system stood at 5.683 billion euros up to July, representing 0.53 percent of GDP.
The Ministry added the deficit of the central state had reached 31.091 billion euros in the first eight months of the year, which represented 2.79 percent of GDP and meant a 16.1 percent rise when compared with the same period in 2015.
The Spanish government plans to end 2016 with a public deficit of 4.6 percent as opposed to the 5.1 percent of 2015. (1 euro=1.12 U.S. dollar) Endit
