Twelve people died in a coal mine gas explosion in northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, local authorities said.

The explosion occurred on Tuesday at a small coal mine, which belongs to Linli Coal Mining Co. Ltd. in Shizuishan City.

Rescuers removed the 12 deceased from the shaft. Eight more remain trapped under ground.

More than 200 rescuers are on site. Endi
