The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Wednesday.

-- Zambian President Edgar Lungu appended his signature to the Paris Agreement on Climate Change at the United Nations (UN) Treaty event at the UN headquarters in New York on Tuesday.

By signing the agreement, the Zambian leader renewed his government's commitment and resolve to take action in order to attain sustainable prosperity and safeguard the health of people and the planet. (Times of Zambia)

-- Zambia's First Lady Esther Lungu has urged global players to tackle nutrition in all its forms.

The Zambian first lady said during a UN Decade of Action on Nutrition event on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York that there was need to broaden alliances of supporters of nutrition from all walks of life.

The World Bank is working with the Zambian government on funding for nutrition programs. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- Acting Health Permanent Secretary John Moyo said the government will endeavor partner with other organizations such as the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) until every infant and child was secured from AIDS.

The EGPAF has launched four projects in Zambia aimed at improving paediatric diagnosis in infants and children. The programs will test 30, 000 children under the age of 18 months and a further 1,103 HIV positive children initiated on antiretroviral therapy.

Currently, about 150,000 children in Zambia were living with the HIV virus. (Daily Nation) Endit
