Minor "volunteering for terrorist action" arrested in Paris suburbs

Xinhua, September 14, 2016 Adjust font size:

A teenager suspected of planning a "terrorist plot" was arrested on Wednesday in Paris's 20th district, according to local media.

A 15-year-old boy was "volunteering for terrorist action." He was held in custody and his questioning could last up to 48 hours.

The suspect, not known to police, was spotted on social media. He was in contact with French militant Rachid Kassim who, according to a previous investigation, guided "a female commando" to attack train stations and police in the French capital.

On Sept. 11, police arrested a minor on charges of planning "violent action" in public places. He had also been in contact with Kassim who called for more attacks in France via encrypted messaging services application Telegram.

"An exceptional mobilization" to "identify people likely to pass to act has led to the arrest of an individual this morning," said Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve, without elaborating, after chairing a security council at the Elysee Palace. Endit
