1st LD Writethru: Three IS suspects arrested by German police

Xinhua, September 13, 2016 Adjust font size:

Three suspects from the Islamic State (IS) were arrested in raids by German police in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein on Tuesday.

The three Syrians aged between 17 and 26 are under suspicion of coming to Germany through Turkey and Greece last November with order from the IS, Public Prosecutor General announced.

They may have already executed one received order or are still ready to receive further instructions. The "specific order or instructions" have not been confirmed yet by the investigation, the announcement said.

The suspects are committed to a person who is in charge of operations and attacks outside the "IS-area". The IS has equipped them with passports, U.S. dollars and mobile phones with pre-installed communication programs, according to the announcement.

Over 200 police officers from German Federal Criminal Police Office, German Federal Police and local police took part in the raids on Tuesday morning.

The apartments of the three suspects have been searched. Six refugee camps were also searched at the same day, in which some mobile phones, data reservoirs and documents were confiscated. Endit
