Singapore stocks close 1.91 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 54.95 points, or 1.91 percent, to close at 2,818.38.

A total of 1.32 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.40 billion Singapore dollars (1.03 billion U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 323 to 93, while 482 others finished unchanged.

The STI index lost 21.15 points, or 0.73 percent, to close at 2,873.33 on Sept. 9. The market was closed on Monday because of public holiday for Hari Raya Haji. Enditem
