The following are news highlights in Ethiopia's major media outlets on Saturday.

-- The prevalence of malaria in Ethiopia has declined and the coverage of vector control tools improved, a survey conducted by the Ethiopian Public Health Institute revealed.

According to the Third Round Nationwide Malaria Indicator Survey (MIS-2015) released Friday, the prevalence of malaria in areas below 2,000 meters altitude has declined to 5 people from 13 per one thousand in 2011. (Ethiopian News Agency/ENA)

-- The Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) said it would investigate the cause of the fire accident and handling of inmates at Kilinto correctional center at the outskirt of Addis Ababa next week. (Fana Broadcasting Corporate/FBC)

-- Five Regional States of Ethiopia have granted amnesty for a total of 9, 833 inmates on Friday following Ethiopia's New Year which will be marked on Sunday.
