The following are the highlights of Zambia's major media outlets on Friday.
-- The head of a Zambia farmers' association at the center of alleged misappropriation of donor funds says the association was not privy to a report that has alleged misapplication of funds.
On Wednesday, the Finish and Swedish governments said they will demand refunds of their money they gave to the Zambia National Farmers Union after an independent report revealed glaring financial irregularities. (Zambia Daily Mail)
-- The British government has granted 17 Zambians scholarships to study in various universities in that country.
The 17 have been sponsored under the United Kingdom government with partner organizations under the global education scheme dubbed "Chevening Scholarships". (Times of Zambia)
-- A report released by the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa has revealed negligible levels of investments in agricultural research in Zambia while value addition to products stood at an insignificant 0.33 percent between 2005 and 2012.
The report notes that investments allocated to agricultural research and extension services in countries such as Zambia, Malawi and Tanzania were negligible, adding that research could go a long way in helping farmers adapt to changes brought about by climate change. (The Post) Endit
